Site designed, created, and manintained by Michael Jones
By the late 1800s and early 1900s, it became the route of a railroad to serve the communities of New Albany, Pontotoc, and Houston. Its construction, led by the great grandfather of Nobel prize winning author William Faulkner, created or greatly affected a number of smaller communities such as Ingomar, Ecru, Algoma, and Houlka.

Indeed the site of the Tanglefoot Trail has been here for many generations, its future role in this region will be determined by local residents.
The Tanglefoot was a narrow gauge engine that was used in the construction of the railroad and later retired after the line became standardized.
